Seventh grade students will begin the study of World History with emphasis on geography and culture of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Early Americas. Using tools of social inquiry, students will investigate the geographic, economic, political, social, and cultural attributes of the above societies.

8th Grade

AMERICAN HISTORY

THE EIGHTH GRADE CURRICULUM COVERS AMERICAN HISTORY FROM EARLY EXPLORERS TO THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. OUR STUDY COMMENCES WITH A REVIEW OF THE FIVE THEMES OF GEOGRAPHY AND APPLICATION OF THE FIVE THEMES IN REVIEWING EXPLORATION OF THE AMERICAS AND COLONIZATION. 

THE FOUNDATIONS OF DEMOCRACY WILL BE STUDIED IN AN EXAMINATION OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION AND THE FORMING OF THE "NEW REPUBLIC".  CONTINUING INTO THE JEFFERSON ERA STUDENTS WILL FOLLOW THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES IN TRACKING ITS GROWTH AND EXPANSION.  THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ECONOMICS WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THE UNIT LEADING UP TO THE CIVIL WAR.  THIS YEAR'S STUDY OF AMERICAN HISTORY WILL ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO DEVELOP HIGHER PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, STRONG WORK ETHIC AND GREATER CIVIC SKILLS.
